Privacy Policy
Effective September 18, 2026
Who we are and what this covers
WatchLately is operated by PJMA Productions, LLC. This policy covers the WatchLately website and dedicated mobile applications. WatchLately is designed as personal media, not social media: connections require deliberate member action, and private activity stays inside the audience a member chooses.
Information we collect
Depending on the features you use, we collect:
- Account and profile information: email address, preferred and family name, unique handle, optional profile photo, optional city and state, and account settings.
- Age eligibility: during signup, your self-declared date of birth is used by a protected server check to confirm that you are at least 13. The exact date is removed before the account is stored; WatchLately retains only a private record that the eligibility check passed, the minimum age applied, and when it was confirmed.
- Media activity: saved, watching, and finished titles; ratings; streaming-service selections; recommendations; responses; and season-reminder subscriptions.
- Connections and private spaces: Friend requests, accepted or blocked relationships, Dinner Table and Household memberships, invitations, and the content shared in those spaces.
- Member content: direct and circle messages, recommendation notes, beta feedback, screenshots you choose to attach, and safety reports.
- Safety evidence: when you report a message, a bounded snapshot of that message and your optional private explanation are retained for authorized moderation review.
- Service and device information: authentication records, security and troubleshooting events, notification preferences, and device notification tokens if you choose to enable notifications.
WatchLately does not upload your address book or request precise device location. City and state are manually entered and remain hidden unless you separately choose to display them on your limited connection card.
How information is collected
We receive information when you create or update your account, choose settings, save or share a title, communicate with another member, join a private circle, submit feedback, report a concern, or contact support. We also receive limited technical information from the services that operate and secure WatchLately.
How we use information
We use information to operate and personalize WatchLately, authenticate accounts, enforce privacy choices, connect members who choose to connect, power private recommendations and conversations, provide title and availability information, deliver requested service communications, investigate reports, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and improve reliability.
WatchLately does not currently use an advertising network, behavioral advertising profile, or cross-app tracking. Reserved advertising locations remain empty. If advertising or tracking practices change, this policy and any required consent choices will be updated before activation.
When information is shared
Information is shared only in the following circumstances:
- At your direction: with accepted Friends or members of a Dinner Table or Household when you recommend, message, respond, or enable a profile visibility choice.
- With service providers: with vendors that provide hosting, authentication, storage, title metadata, email, and optional notification delivery. They may process information only to provide services to WatchLately and must protect it consistently with this policy and applicable requirements.
- For safety and legal reasons: when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect members or the service, comply with law, or respond to valid legal process.
- In a business transition: if PJMA Productions, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale, subject to continued protection of personal information and applicable notice requirements.
We do not sell personal information or mobile-number consent data.
Retention, deletion, and security
We keep account information and member content while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account from Profile and Settings → Delete account in the mobile app, or from the account controls on the website. Deletion removes the active account and associated profile, private activity, connections, conversations, recommendations, circle memberships, and uploaded profile photo. A private circle you host is transferred to a remaining member when possible or removed when no other member remains.
Limited records may be retained only where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, compliance with law, dispute resolution, or enforcement of these terms. Residual encrypted service-provider backups may remain until they are overwritten through routine backup retention. Retained information is not used to recreate a deleted account.
We use access controls, encrypted connections, protected server operations, and database-enforced privacy boundaries. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You can change profile visibility and notification choices, disable exact-name discovery, hide optional location context, remove content you control, leave private circles you do not host, block or unblock another member, report a member or message, and delete your account. Device permissions can also be changed in your device settings.
For access, correction, deletion, privacy, or consent questions, use the in-app controls or contact info@watchlately.com. We may need to confirm that a request comes from the account holder.
Safety reports and moderation
Safety reports are handled privately by authorized WatchLately reviewers and are not disclosed to the reported member through WatchLately. A reported message includes a bounded evidence snapshot so the concern can be reviewed even if the conversation later changes. Reports may be marked reviewing, resolved, or dismissed, and authorized reviewers may keep private moderation notes. Blocking immediately limits private contact and hides the blocked member's messages from the blocker in shared circles.
Children
WatchLately is not directed to children under 13. New accounts must pass a neutral date-of-birth check, and anyone who reports being under 13 cannot create an account. Household relationship labels help families organize a private space, but they are not parental controls, do not permit an under-13 account, and do not make WatchLately a children's service. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, contact support so the account and associated personal information can be addressed promptly.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as WatchLately evolves. Material changes will be identified by a new effective date and, when appropriate, an in-product notice. Questions can be sent to info@watchlately.com or through our Support & Safety page.
